It is an archaeological site. The first settlement of the area is around 4000 BC. Documented ( Lasinja culture ). Another settlement from the 2nd century BC. Chr. Yielded suspected evidence of iron smelting in Styria (smelting furnaces). These are dated to the first century BC and would be older than the evidence of iron processing on the Erzberg. The fortifications of the settlement were Celtic ramparts that were destroyed by fire and later filled in, so that their remains were well preserved. The Celtic settlement ends shortly before the Roman occupation of the area, an early medieval settlement is presumed to have been in the 8th and 9th centuries AD, thus even before the Hungarian conquest of this area.

Note: The site is located in the area around the Stainzer Warte, which is also a listed building; no remains can be seen in the area without an expert guide.

The site is a burial ground from the transition from the late Latène period to the Roman Empire . It is located about 1 km south of Rassach in the forest east of the B 76 on the bend in front of the straight road through the Johngraben. Your properties are overgrown with forest and bushes or (especially property 500/7) are used as traffic areas. Excavations by the Joanneum in Graz in 1984 showed that the 37 barrows that could still be identified had already been largely destroyed by robbery graves. There were graves filled with fire and burials in stone boxes. Grave structures from the early 1st century AD and a burial mound from the Augustan period (approx. 30 BC to 14 AD) are documented. The site is described as one of the earliest "Noric-Pannonian" burial mounds and the view is taken that the burial zone formed the beginning of burial mounds before the graves in Leibnitz (Flavia Solva). The discovery of a Celtic sword and a lance in the context of a Roman provincial burial has been published for 2001. This situation is interpreted as the burial of a person of higher rank who was buried according to Celtic customs even in Roman times, which shows that Celtic burial customs continued to exist in the Roman Empire. Iron sabers, swords and other iron parts had already been found during the construction of the B 67. No details can be seen in nature. Without an expert guide, it is impossible to distinguish whether the uneven ground at the site is due to natural erosion, artificially created historical burial mounds or other later human interventions.

Note: The place of discovery is on plots of several land registers (deposit numbers): Plot No. 500/3 in EZ 30, No. 500/4 in EZ 192 and No. 500/7 in EZ 323, all KG 61233 Rassach. Another burial ground next to the B 76 is in the Johngraben in the municipality of Groß St. Florian . A total of 20 sites have been documented for the Rassach-Tanzelsdorf-Lasselsdorf area.
