history

In the times of need between the wars, the city of Innsbruck had a settlement built in Ulfiswiese on the initiative of Mayor Franz Fischer in 1934/35. The land belonged to the city of Innsbruck, but was located in the then still independent municipality of Hötting. The city acted as a property developer, the houses were built by the residents themselves according to the guidelines of the Ministry of Social Affairs. The selection of the settlers followed strict criteria, among other things, they had to be Austrian citizens, at least one unsupervised child and an available monthly income of less than 270 Schilling, have certain own funds and help with the construction of the settlement. Each of the 56 settlement houses had a garden with a stable for small livestock and a hen. On July 5, 1936, the settlement was officially opened and named after the then Minister of Social Affairs Odo Neustädter-Stürmer  Neusdtädter-Stürmer-Siedlung . The year before that, the settler community Tyrol am Lohbach and Hörtnaglsiedlung was founded, which set up a magazine for animal feed and purchased a juice press as its first activities.
