Lopušné Pažite (until 1946 only "Pažite" - until 1927 "Pažitie"; Hungarian Pázsitos - until 1907 Pazsitje or Pazsite ) is a municipality in northwestern Slovakia with 447 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and is located in Okres Kysucké Nové Mesto , a district of Žilinský kraj , and at the same time in the traditional landscape of Kysuce .

geography

The village is located in the Kysucká vrchovina mountain range in the central part of the Vadičovský potok valley . The center of the village is at an altitude of 435  m nm and is five kilometers from Kysucké Nové Mesto and 14 kilometers from Žilina .

Neighboring communities are Kysucké Nové Mesto ( Budatínska Lehota district ) in the north, Dolný Vadičov in the east, Žilina ( Zástranie district ) in the south and Radoľa in the west.

history

The present municipality was created in 1946 through the merger of the places Lopušná (Hungarian: Lapus - until 1907 Lopusna ) and Pažite, after they had already merged between 1907 and 1920.

Both places are recent foundations: the sub-town Lopušná originated in the 16th century and was first mentioned in writing in 1598 as Lopussina . It was part of the Budatín domain , part of the property belonged to the Kury family . In 1784 Lopušná had 22 houses and 164 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 24 houses and 236 inhabitants who were employed as shepherds, beekeepers and farmers.

Pažite was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1662 under the name Pazittje as a dairy and was in the territory of the Strečno Castle . In 1784 the place had 15 houses and 92 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 20 houses and 157 inhabitants who were employed as peddlers, shepherds, seasonal workers, shindlers and cattle farmers, among other things.

Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Lopušné Pažite had 467 inhabitants, 454 of whom were Slovaks and one each from Rome and one Czech . 11 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

452 residents admitted to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each to the Baha'itum and one to the Evangelical Church AB. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of nine residents was not determined.
