Lodno (until 1927 also "Lodné" in Slovak; Lodnó in Hungarian ) is a municipality in northwestern Slovakia with 983 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and is located in Okres Kysucké Nové Mesto , a district of the Žilinský kraj , and at the same time in the traditional landscape Kysuce .
geography
The village is located in the Kysucká vrchovina mountains in the valley of the Lodňanka brook between the Kýčera and Pleš mountains. The altitude varies from 510 m nm to 840 m nm. The town center is at an altitude of 513 m nm and is ten kilometers from Kysucké Nové Mesto and 20 kilometers from Čadca and Žilina .
Neighboring municipalities are Klubina in the north, Stará Bystrica in the east, Radôstka in the southeast, Povina in the south and Kysucký Lieskovec in the west and northwest.
history
Lodno arose in the second half of the 17th century on what was then the municipality of Kysucký Lieskovec and was first mentioned in 1658 as Lodne . At that time it was part of the Budatín domain . In 1787 the village had 89 houses and 481 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 108 houses and 834 inhabitants who, among other things, were employed as brush binders, wire binders, wood processors, farmers, sheep keepers and sieve makers.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In 1965 the community was hit by floods.
population
According to the 2011 census, there were 997 residents in Lodno, 989 of whom were Slovaks and one each Magyar , Pole and Czech . Five residents gave no information about their ethnicity.
963 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and two residents each for the Bahaitum, the Evangelical Church AB and the Greek Catholic Church; six residents professed a different denomination. Eight residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 20 residents was not determined.
