The Luxembourg film industry is quite small, which is not surprising given the population of Luxembourg (around 400,000 inhabitants). However, compared to its population, the country has a considerable output of films. These are mostly co-productions with foreign film production companies that decide to work with Luxembourg companies due to the high level of Luxembourg film funding. There is also an astonishingly active amateur film scene, which for budgetary reasons sometimes works hand in hand with the professional sector and offers film students an opportunity to get started. Mostly short films and music videos are produced. Mention should be made here of Filmreakter asbl , Pyramid Pictures and Feierblumm Productions asbl

In 1993 , Dammentour by Paul Scheuer (AFO-Productions) and Hochzäitsnuecht by Pol Cruchten won prizes at the Max Ophüls Festival in Saarbrücken .
