Manoj Kumar Kaltagdia (* 10. December 1986 ) is an Indian boxer in the Light Welterweight .

Origin and family

Manoj Kumar comes from Rajound in the Kaitha District, which is in the state of Haryana . His older brother Rajesh Kumar Rajound is a former national boxing coach for the junior team, his younger brother Mukesh Kumar was also a boxer and works for the railroad. His father is a former soldier, his mother a housewife. Manoj is also the owner of a boxing club named after him in Kurukshetra .

Boxing career

Manoj Kumar reached the quarter-finals at the 2006 Asian Games , where he was eliminated by Serik Säpijew . At the Asian Championships in 2007 he then won a bronze medal in the light welterweight division after a semi-final defeat by Bjambyn Tüwschinbat . In 2009 in Milan he started for the first time in a world championship, but was defeated in the first fight against Myke Carvalho .

At the Commonwealth Games 2010 he won the gold medal in the light welterweight division after beating Bradley Saunders in the final and took part in the 2011 World Championships in Baku , where he moved into the quarterfinals by winning against Valentino Knowles, Raymond Moylette and Hu Qing . There he was eliminated in the fight for a medal place against Thomas Stalker , but had qualified for the 2012 Olympic Games in London by reaching the quarter-finals . There he defeated Serdar Hudaýberdiýew in the preliminary round , but lost again to Thomas Stalker in the round of 16.

However, after beating Vasile Belous , he lost to Gabriel Maestre . He was eliminated in the round of 16 at the 2018 Asian Games and won a bronze welterweight medal at the 2018 Commonwealth Games .
