Margaretha Krook
Margaretha Knutsdotter Krook (born October 15, 1925 in Stockholm ; † May 7, 2001 there ) was a Swedish stage and film actress .
Life
She grew up as the daughter of Major Knut Krook (1872–1947) and Margareta Svensson (1900–1989) with her younger sister Gunilla in Norrtälje and attended the primary school Nya Elementar in Stockholm's Åkeshov district. Already in school she was in the theater club and appeared in school performances. After training as a flight attendant after the end of the Second World War and an artistic training at Beckmans Skola för Reklam Illustration Mode , she received her training from 1948 to 1951 at the renowned Stockholm drama school Dramatens elevskola of the Royal Dramatic Theater (Dramaten). Among her classmates were Allan Edwall , Jan Malmsjö and Max von Sydow . From 1956 to 1981 she was married to the flight navigator Stig Hammar. Daughter Lotta comes from the marriage.
From 1949 until her death in 2001 she worked as an actress and worked with Lars Norén , Gösta Ekman , Tage Danielsson and Hans Alfredson , among others . From 1952 to 1954 she had engagements at the Östgötateatern city theaters in Norrköping , 1955 to 1957 at Helsingborgs stadsteater and 1958 to 1959 at Göteborgs stadsteater . From 1962 to 1999 she was part of the ensemble of the Royal Dramatic Theater. In addition, she made numerous films and appeared as a radio and TV entertainer for many years on Sveriges Television and Sveriges Radio .
She was considered one of Sweden's leading female actresses and a multi-faceted Mimin who, in addition to serious character roles, also had a talent for comic roles. She has received several awards for her work. Margaretha Krook died of cancer in Ersta sjukhus hospital in Stockholm . Their ashes are in the memorial grove of Galärvarvskyrkogården on Djurgården .
Awards
- In 1966 she won the Gösta Ekman scholarship from Teaterförbundet för scen och film (Swedish Association for Performing Arts and Film).
- In 1974 she received the O'Neill Scholarship from the Royal Dramatic Theater.
- In 1975 she was awarded the Litteris et Artibus Medal, the highest Swedish award in the field of art and literature.
- In 1976 she won the 12th Guldbagge as best leading actress for the film Släpp fångarne loss, det är vår! excellent.
- In 1978 she won the Svenska Dagbladet -Thalia Prize for her performance of Alexandra Michailowna Kollontai in Kollontaj at the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm, directed by Alf Sjöberg . The prize, endowed with 25,000 crowns , has been awarded annually since 1951 to a person who has distinguished himself in the theater world.
- In 1993 she received the Swedish Academy Theater Prize, endowed with 75,000 crowns , which is awarded to stage performers, directors and dramatists.
- In 1995 she was honored with the royal medal Illis Quorum .
- In 1998 she was awarded the gold medal of the Teaterförbundet för scen och film .
- In 2002 a life-size heated bronze statue was erected in front of the Royal Dramatic Theater in Stockholm to commemorate Margaretha Krook.
