Maria Brunner (* 1962 in Lienz ) is an Austrian painter and conceptual installation artist who lives and works in Berlin .
Life
Maria Brunner was born in Lienz ( East Tyrol ) in 1962 as the daughter of a dirndl blouse tailor. Growing up with the sewing machine, she studied from 1980 to 1985 at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna .
The East Tyrolean has lived in the Berlin district of Moabit since around 2010 with her partner, the South Tyrolean artist Florin Kompatscher .
Works by Maria Brunner can be found in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York , in the Tyrolean State Museum Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck , in the Deutsche Bank Collection and in the collection of the Hotel Greif in Bozen , whose reception she designed. The works in the Museum of Modern Art were part of a donation from the Judith Rothschild Foundation to the museum.
