Marlon Frey (born March 24, 1996 in Düsseldorf ) is a German football player .

Career

Marlon Frey began his career at Rather SV - a club in the Rath district of Düsseldorf - and joined the youth team at Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2004 . There he received his first professional contract in the 2014/15 season .

In the 2015/16 season he has been a regular member of the squad since the fifth match day. On December 12, 2015 (16th matchday), Frey made his Bundesliga debut in his team's 5-0 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach , when he came on for Kevin Kampl in the 87th minute . Three days later he made his debut in this competition in the round of 16 of the DFB Cup in Unterhaching - which was won 3-1 - in which he came on for Christoph Kramer in the 52nd minute and prepared the second goal for Leverkusen. Frey played his first competitive game on February 13, 2016 in a 2-1 Bundesliga win over SV Darmstadt 98 ; he was substituted in the 57th minute for Hakan Çalhanoğlu . In mid-February 2016, Frey extended his contract, which originally ran until the end of June 2017, for another year.

For the 2016/17 season he is on loan to the second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern in order to have better chances of match practice. Frey made his second division and compulsory game debut for Kaiserslautern on August 5, 2016 (1st matchday) in the 4-0 home defeat against Hannover 96 when he came on for Róbert Pich in the 59th minute .

After almost two months without a club, Frey signed a one-year contract with Jong PSV , the second team of the Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, on August 30, 2018 . At the end of the season he was with the team, for which he played 31 league games, third in the Dutch second division .

For the second division season 2019/20 he signed the SV Sandhausen , where he received a contract valid until 2021.
