Matej Tóth
Matej Tóth (born February 10, 1983 in Nitra ) is a Slovak walker . He is reigning world champion and Olympic champion over the 50-kilometer distance .
In the 20-km walk took Tóth at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens rank 32 and at the 2005 World Championships in Helsinki 21st place to a sixth place finish at the 2006 European Championships in Gothenburg was followed by a 14th place finish at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka and a 26 1st place at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .
In 2009 he was ninth in the 20 km and tenth in the 50 km walk at the World Championships in Berlin . At the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona Tóth was again sixth over 20 km. In 2011 he came in 13th place at the World Championships in Daegu over 20 km; over 50 km he did not reach the goal.
At the 2012 Olympic Games in London , Tóth was seventh over 50 km.
Over the same distance he finished fifth at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow , won silver at the 2012 European Championships in Zurich and won the 2015 World Championships in Beijing .
Tóth celebrated the greatest success of his career by winning the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .
His temporary suspension was lifted by the Slovak Athletics Federation after the clarification of irregularities in the biological passport (May 2016) in early October 2017, and he was acquitted of all allegations. The association's verdict can be challenged by the world anti-doping agency WADA , among others .
