Mauther Forest
The Mauther Forest is a municipality-free area in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau in Bavaria .
The 24.64 km² state forest lies on the border with the Czech Republic . On the Bavarian side, it borders on Philippsreut , Mauth and Schönbrunner Wald . It is named after the neighboring municipality of Mauth.
It is partially part of the Bavarian Forest National Park , the Bavarian Forest Nature Park and the conservation area, LSG Bavarian Forest . Parts of the area belong to the fauna-flora-habitat area of the Bavarian Forest National Park and the EU bird sanctuary area of the Bavarian Forest National Park .
The Bärenriegelkar NW of Finsterau is located in the Mauther Forest and has been designated by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) as a geoscientifically valuable geotope (geotope number: 272R020).
The Reschbachtrift is a designated architectural monument (D-2-72-134-20).
