The Pleckensteiner Wald is a community-free area in the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau in Bavaria .

The 12.99 km² state forest lies on the border with the Czech Republic and Austria . On the Bavarian side it borders on Neureichenau , Haidmühle and the Frauenberger and Duschlberger forest . There are ten enclaves in the area that belong to the municipality of Neureichenau.

The area is part of the Bavarian Forest Nature Park and the conservation area, LSG Bavarian Forest . Parts of the area belong to the fauna-flora-habitat area Hochwald and Urwald am Dreisessel and to the nature reserve Hochwald .

In the Pleckenstein Forest on the Dreisesselberg there is the Steinerne Meer am Plöckenstein NE of Riedelsbach , which is designated by the Bavarian State Office for the Environment (LfU) as a geoscientific geotope (geotope number: 272R004).
