The 7th Inter-Cities Fairs Cup was in the season 1964 / 65 played. Ferencváros Budapest won the final, which was played in the Stadio Comunale (Turin), against Juventus Turin . For the first time the trophy went to Eastern Europe, and only for the second time not to Spain. The top scorers were Denis Law and Bobby Charlton of Manchester United with eight goals each.
In the event of a tie after the return leg, a play-off was planned; after normal playing time there was still no winner, should overtime and finally the coin toss take place.
