The Mirvac Group is a diversified Australian real estate company based in Sydney , New South Wales . It is listed in the S & P / ASX 50 . Mirvac has an integrated development and asset management function. The company's segments include Office & Industrial, Retail , Residential and Corporate . The Office & Industrial segment manages the portfolio of office and industrial properties in order to generate rental income and develop office and industrial projects. The Office & Industrial segment also manages joint ventures and real estate for third party investors and owners. The Retail segment manages the retail property portfolio including the shopping centers. The retail segment also develops shopping centers and manages joint ventures and real estate for third party investors and owners. The residential segment designs, develops, markets and sells residential real estate to external customers, including master-planned communities and apartments, in core metropolitan markets.

history

  • 1972: The trade association that would become Mirvac began developing real estate on a joint venture basis in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The developers were Robert Hamilton and Henry Pollack. Hamilton had opened a real estate agency on Sydney's north coast in 1961, which marketed and sold apartments and advised developers. Pollack was an architect and builder. Together they formed an alliance to complete four projects in Sydney. Mirvac was launched in 1972.
  • 1979: Mirvac founds its hotel division.
  • 1982: The Capital Property Trust is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
  • 1987: Mirvac Limited is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
  • 1992: Mirvac Property Trust is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange.
  • 1999: The Mirvac Group is formed through the merger of Capital Property Trust, Mirvac Limited and Mirvac Property Trust.
  • 2000: Mirvac completes the Sydney Olympic Village, which hosted 16,000 athletes during the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
  • 2007: Mirvac acquires the Carlton hotel portfolio for A $ 328 million. Mirvac raises A $ 300 million equity from three international investors to set up a wholesale residential real estate mutual fund. Mirvac acquires A $ 1.1 billion real estate portfolio from Walker Corporation.
  • 2009: Mirvac acquires the Mirvac Real Estate Investment Trust and adds $ 1 billion to its portfolio.
  • 2010: Mirvac acquires the Westpac Office Trust for A $ 1.1 billion.
  • 2011: Mirvac enters into agreements to sell its Mirvac Hotels & Resorts hotel management business and various related hotel investments to Accor and Ascendas.
