Oil Search Limited is the largest oil exploration company in Papua New Guinea . The company has stakes in all of the country's oil fields and is also active in Yemen , Tunisia and Iraq .
Oil Search, which operates both mineral exploration and oil production , is headquartered in Port Moresby , Papua New Guinea.
The oil production company was founded in 1929. It is one of the largest companies in the country and in 2006 generated 13 percent of the gross national product of Papua New Guinea.
The company is listed on the Port Moresby Stock Exchange and Australian Stock Exchange , in Australia on the S & P / ASX 50 . Its market capitalization was $ 9 billion in 2010. The government of Papua New Guinea holds a stake of 15 percent, for which this state received a dividend of eight million US dollars in 2006. Other significant shareholders in March 2011 were JPMorgan with more than 20 percent and HSBC with around less than 20 percent.
