Brambles is an Australian service company based in Sydney .

history

The company was founded in Newcastle in 1875 by Walter Brambles as a transport company. In 1925 it was converted into WE Brambles and Sons Ltd. After the Second World War , Brambles Industries Limited went public .
From August 2001 to December 2006 the company was structured as a dual-listed company , consisting of the Australian Brambles Industries Limited and the British Brambles Industries plc . The Australian part, which is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and is based in Sydney, generated 57 percent of the total output, while the British part, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is based in London, generated the remaining 43 percent. In 2006 the two companies were merged to form Brambles Limited , based in Sydney , which is traded on the Australian Stock Exchange.

Structure and turnover

CHEP pallets are color-coded and can not be sold .

In 2010, CHEP generated around 69 percent of Brambles' total sales.

The subsidiary Cleanaway was sold to the German waste disposal company SULO in 2006.

Recall deals with document processing. 4,500 people are employed in 300 service centers. These centers are spread across 22 countries. Recall is headquartered in Atlanta , USA. In 2010, this area contributed 15 percent to Brambles' sales.
