history
The company was founded in 1849 as The Australian Mutual Provident Society , as a non-profit association. In 1996, AMP went public on the Australian Stock Exchange and was first traded on the New Zealand Exchange on June 15, 1998 . The company has since been listed in the All Ordinaries on the Australian Securities Exchange and in the NZX 50 Index on the New Zealand Exchange .
