history
Origin Energy was created in February 2000 by the splitting of Boral , an Australian conglomerate .
In 2001 the companies Powercor and CitiPower in Victoria were taken over, and in 2007 Queensland 's Sun Retail.
Boral was founded in 1946 as Bitumen and Oil Refineries (Australia) Limited, a large part of the business of today's Origin Energy goes back to SAGASCO Holdings Limited, which was founded in 1861 and was acquired by Boral in 1993.

Origin Energy's business consists of three areas:
