The Moorseebach is an approx. 5 km long brook in the Steigerwald foreland, which flows into the Breitbach from the right after an approx. 5 km long, essentially west-south-western run near Mönchsondheim . Source and mouth are located on the district of Iphofen , the middle reaches of the crosses Markt Einersheim , both in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The Moorseebach is a 3rd order flowing water all year round .

geography

course

Upper course

The Moorseebach rises at about 326  m above sea level. NHN of a spring in a small upper bay in the Kesselholz forest in the plateau fork between the mostly similarly high Schlossbergsattel and the hamlet of Neubauhof in the north and the Bergsporn Bühl ( 352  m above sea level ) in the south. A left arm of the spring barely fifty meters long flows into the flow of the main spring, which is hardly longer there. After a hundred meters, Wiesenflur comes to the bank on the initial westward course of the stream, initially only to the right.

At the southern foot of the Schloßberg ( 420  m above sea  level ) with the Speckfeld castle ruins , it now meets the connecting road from Gutshof Neubauhof to Marktdorf in the open corridor, feeds a pond on the right of the run, changes direction here and now follows the road to the south-west in still little deepened valley basin. At the northern edge of the Hasenbuck ridge ( 309  m above sea level ) it passes a small forest on the left slope. Then a short, only periodically water-bearing tributary flows from the right. Close to the rest of the upper course are a total of four small springs and a pond, sometimes on the left and sometimes on the right, all of which drain into the stream.

Middle course

West of the Iphöfer village Possenheim on the left slope of the valley first cross the connecting road between the villages , also known as the Alte Reichsstraße , and immediately afterwards the B 8 towards the Moorseebach towards Einersheim, which is a little further down the right slope of the valley. Then the brook divides into two branches, both of which soon cross westward to the Markt Einersheimer area. A ditch fed by two springs runs towards the left arm opposite the eastern industrial area of Markt Einersheim by a small pond.

Shortly before the Secretary Mill, the two branches converge again, but at this first mill from Markt Einersheim on the right, the stream divides again immediately, the parallel branches between the hamlet Am Kühbuck on the left slope and Einersheim on the right hold a total of three small ones A pond and take on three source drains from the left and one from the right. At the confluence at Eselsmühle , the KT 1 district road , known in Einersheim Mönchsondheimer Strasse , crosses the Moorseebach in the direction of the eponymous Iphöfer village in the south.

Then the stream passes the Einersheim sewage treatment plant, next to which a somewhat longer left slope spring drainage flows. In parallel with Badstrasse , it then runs under the Nuremberg – Würzburg railway line that crosses a high bridge .

Lower course

Then the district of Am Wasserhäuschen and the Schwarzmühle are on the right bank opposite the Terrassenbad Markt Einersheim outdoor pool, which is fed from a higher spring . A little further down it follows to the confluence near the municipality boundary to the northern parts of the city of Iphofen. The valley and the stream begin to meander a little , it flows through the area of the stone mill , above which two springs emerge on the slope of the upper Schäfersberg estuary ( 293  m above sea level ). On the last section it passes four ponds one after the other, also on the left, Einersheimer side. Then the Moorseebach flows from its valley, which has now been deepened about 50 meters into the surrounding landscape, east of the Iphöfer Vogtsmühle from the right to about 250  m above sea level. NHN in the middle Breitbach , which changes here in the course of its large curve from northwest to west.

Over a length of 5.2 km, the Moorseebach has an absolute gradient of around 76 meters in altitude and thus a mean bed gradient of around 15 ‰.

Catchment area

It covers about 9 km² and is located in the northern part of Hellmitzheim Bay in front of the western Steigerwald in the sub-area of the Steigerwald foreland of the Mainfränkische Platten natural area . The highest elevation in the catchment area is the Schloßberg , which lies northwest of the source area and is about 420  m above sea level. Reached NHN .

The bay is located on a larger watershed, the waters east of it - the main competitor is the Bibart - ultimately run in the old Danubian direction south-east into the Aisch , which also drains into the Main via the Regnitz , but into the Upper Main with a major detour through Middle and Upper Franconia. The Moorseebach, on the other hand, and its competitor on the other side of the southern, left-hand watershed, the Hellmitzheimer Kirchbach in the middle of the bay, drain over the Breitbach on a very short path to the Main Triangle, which lies much further down the great Franconian river. Beyond the right, northwestern watershed, the Iphöfer Siechhausbach feeds its water via the Sickersbach a little above the Main.

The source area of the Moorseebach is located in the LSG landscape protection area within the Steigerwald nature park (formerly protection zone) LSG-00569.01 and thus within the Steigerwald nature park .

Geologically, the catchment area of the upper course is mostly in the Gipskeuper , the wide valley basin areas already from the end of the upper course in the Unterseuper , while the gypsum Keuper layer on the left and right watershed extends almost to the slope of the Breitbach valley .

Worth seeing

South of Markt Einersheim, the Moorseebach runs through the Mühlengrund with its old polluted willow trees and wet meadows. Grain used to be ground in all four mills. A section of the Mühlengrund is part of the Natura 2000 network and designated as a protected area DE6327302, tufa springs between Willanzheim and Markt Einersheim .
