NGC 1448 = NGC 1457 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Horologium in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 46 million light years from the Milky Way and about 110,000 light years in diameter .
The supernovae SN 1983S (Type-II), SN 2001el ( Type-Ia ), SN 2003hn (Type-IIP) and SN 2014df (Type-Ib) were observed here.
The object was discovered by John Herschel on October 24, 1835 .
