NGC 7397 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Pisces on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 219 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 45,000 ly. In the same area of the sky there are u. a. the galaxies NGC 7396 , NGC 7398 , NGC 7401 , NGC 7402 .
The object was discovered by RJ Mitchell on October 2, 1856 .
