Regional elections in Gambia 2013

The 2013 regional elections ( English 2013 Local Government Election ) in the West African state of Gambia took place on April 4, 2013.

Election to the city, municipality and regional councils

The regional elections included the city council elections for the Banjul City Council , municipal council elections for the Kanifing Municipal Council, and the regional council elections for the Basse Area Council , Brikama Area Council , Janjanbureh Area Council , Kerewan Area Council , Kuntaur Area Council and Mansakonko Area Council .

Kerewan Area Council / Katchang 2015

A by-election was scheduled for January 22, 2015 in the Katchang constituency ( Illisa constituency ). Tamba Marong previously held the seat and died at the end of 2014. There is no record of who took the seat in the Kerewan Area Council.

Basse Area Council / Basse 2015

A by-election was scheduled for April 23, 2015 in the Basse constituency ( constituency Basse ), Omar Sompo Ceesay previously held the seat and was appointed governor of the Upper River Region in November 2013. There is no evidence of who took the seat on the Basse Area Council.

Basse Area Council / Sare Ngai 2016

A by-election was scheduled for April 28, 2016 in the constituency of Sare Ngai ( constituency of Wulli West ), Mbenkeh Ebrima Barrow (non-party) previously held the seat and died. Karamo Touray (APRC) won the seat.

Six by-elections in 2017

Six by-elections were scheduled for May 24, 2017. The elections became necessary because the council members successfully won a seat in the National Assembly in the 2017 parliamentary elections on April 6, 2017 .

Municipal Council / Old Jeshwang

Alhagie Drammeh (UDP) won a seat in the National Assembly for the constituency of Jeshwang , thus a new election was called for the constituency of Old Jeshwang. Junkung SM Dukureh (UDP) won ahead of his opponent Alh. Alpha MS Jallow (GDC).

Municipal Council / Tallinding

A new election was called for Sanusi Touray (non-party) in the Tallinding constituency ( Serekunda East constituency ). Musa Badjie won the constituency ahead of Rohey Dem (GDC) and Baboucarr Mansally.

Brikama Area Council / Bantanjang

Kaddy Camara (APRC) won a seat in the National Assembly for the constituency of Foni Bondali , thus a new election was called for the constituency of Bantanjang.

Brikama Area Council / Somita

Sunkary Badjie (APRC) won a seat in the National Assembly for the constituency of Foni Brefet , thus a new election was called for the constituency of Somita.

Brikama Area Council / Sukuta

A new election was called for Ebrima Jankey Cham (non-party) in the Sukuta constituency ( Kombo North constituency ).

Jangjanbureh Area Council / Galleh

Dawda Kawsu Jawara (UDP) won a seat in the National Assembly for the Upper Fulladu West constituency , so a new election was called for the Galleh constituency. Samba K. Mballow (UDP) won ahead of his opponent Abdoulie Jallow (PDOIS).
