The Byhleguhrer See nature reserve is located in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg . It belongs to the Spreewald Biosphere Reserve .
The area with the identification number 1289 was placed under nature protection by ordinance of September 12, 1990 . The approximately 853.5 hectare nature reserve with the Byhleguhrer See extends southeast of the core town of Straupitz and north of Byhleguhre . The state road L 51 runs through the area and the L 44 on the north-western edge.
The lake itself is surrounded by an alder beech forest. On the western shore of the lake there is a silting bog forest , which is used by the Reed Swirl and the Great Reed Warbler as a habitat. 109 plant species have been identified in the entire nature reserve, including fever clover , caraway-leaved silge and broad-leaved cotton grass .
