Nature reserve

The ordinance on the nature reserve includes the following protection purposes:

"[...] as a location of wildly growing plant communities that are rarely threatened in terms of their existence, in particular the extensive, largely untouched floating leaf, reed and reed communities as well as near-natural forest communities (e.g. alder quarries) [...] to secure the species-rich intermediate limestone bog and the partially still existing dry grassland [...] as a habitat for endangered animal species, in particular as a breeding, feeding and wintering area for numerous bird species and as a retreat for reptiles and semi-aquatic mammals [...] because of the special nature of the area, especially the richly structured, near-natural bank areas [... ] for ecological reasons because of the importance of the mosaic-like networked, different biotope structures "

- Ordinance on the nature reserve “Pätzer Hintersee” of January 6, 1998
