Norbert Walter Peters
Norbert Walter Peters (born March 17, 1954 in Stolberg (Rhld.) ) Is a German composer and musician, sound artist , visual artist and writer and director for radio art.
Life
Peters completed his musical education at the Cologne University of Music ., Dept. Aachen in the subjects of guitar , vocals and Renaissance - sounds from 1981. The specialist music theater and musicological research were another focus of his musical studies. He completed his musical education by studying composition . In addition to his educational and artistic work, Peters was also active as a music reviewer and freelance journalist .
In the mid-1980s he came into contact with visual artists from the environment of the Düsseldorf Art Academy . As a result, his artistic activity changed significantly. He designed performances and sound installations as well as image objects .
During this time, Peters also oversaw two series of events: the sound art series "... KLÄNGE" at Stolberg Castle and the performance art series at the New Aachen Art Association . Afterwards he was a guest lecturer at the Saar College of Fine Arts (“Composition and spatial experience”).
From 1999 Peters designed audio pieces for the radio medium . Norbert Walter Peters was able to realize a large number of his sound installations , audio pieces and instrumental concerts through composition commissions. a. through productions by Deutschlandradio Kultur Berlin, Bayerischer Rundfunk , Südwestrundfunk Baden-Baden, Österreichischer Rundfunk , Saarländischer Rundfunk and Radio France Culture Paris.

- 1991 the acoustic way of the cross EKSIT for the art station St. Peter (Cologne)
- 1999 the sound installation vasí-on for the Donaueschinger Musiktage ; u. a. as an abstract reflection on the use of the Fibonacci sequence , the golden ratio and the number five in Frédéric Chopin's Nocturne Opus 37/1, No. 11 in G minor
- 2000 the radio play CavæTóna (voice, percussion) for the Saarländischer Rundfunk , subject are u. a. the extraordinary acoustics in the cave art of Palaeolithic and rituals of shamanism
- 2001 the picture object con'tinuo presented in Styrian autumn ; this intermediate work takes u. a. Reference to the circular figure S via the anima of the medieval philosopher and alchemist Ramon Llull
- 2005 the audio piece nota.thión - after the flood (voices, violoncello) for Radio France Culture Paris and Deutschlandradio Kultur Berlin; treated u. a. the story of the floods in the Gilgamesh epic from the Assyrian cuneiform script
- 2005/06 the concert audio piece nota.thión - the lament of the penitent heart (flute, voice, viola, tape) for Bayerischer Rundfunk , uses three text fragments from ancient oriental languages: ancient Egyptian , Hurrian and Akkadian , which are three views of the concept of the heart in the evolutionary principle of life, death and rebirth reflect
- 2009 the radiophonic concert beau son.ge - An Electric Fayerie (voice, electric bass, electric guitar, clarinet, violoncello, slap electric bass , percussion, tape) for Saarländischer Rundfunk , presented at MOUVEMENT Festival for New Music Saarbrücken AMERICAN DREAMS - AMERICAN (T) SPACES, as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix
- 2010 the audio piece dépôt de beau songe (voices, 5-string electric bass con arco , noises ) for Deutschlandradio Kultur Berlin, uses texts from the Passages by Walter Benjamin and works with the voices of aphasic people.
- 2015/20 the radio play DASH ( dash - English the bar ) as an independent music production at the computer for graphic scores . Street drawings by Italian migrant workers in the southern Black Forest , which Herbert Falken documented photographically in 2003 , serve as a graphic template . From 2009 to 2010 these asphalt pictures were presented in the Kolumba Museum in Cologne . First broadcast of the radio play on Polish Radio and Czech Radio .
- 2016/20 the experimental concert piece Kafka Is Writing Again is a three-part soundtrack for tenor trombone , double bass / electric bass , electric guitar , percussion , tape and prepared piano . In these event studies for the radio play of the same name, Kafka will write again , the performers act according to the compositional specifications of the asphalt pictures of Italian migrant workers . In the sense of a time - space - scheme , these asphalt drawings are to be interpreted as an excerpt from a scriptural timeline : He will write again . The world premiere took place in the New Aachen Art Association .
