Office Klingenberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The (Ober-) Amt Klingenberg (also Amt Schwanfeld ) was an office of the Hochstift Würzburg .

function

In the early modern period , offices were a level between the municipalities and the sovereignty . The functions of administration and jurisdiction were not separated here. The office was headed by a bailiff who was appointed by the rulers. The office of Klingenberg was called Oberamt in the 18th century. This was just a name; it was not associated with a superior position over other offices. It was also a central office , that is, a high court district.

history

In 1401 Bishop Johann von Egloffstein sold the castle and office of Klingenberg to Dietrich von Heidingsfeld, but reserved the right to redeem. In 1405 the pledge was redeemed, but in 1417 the next pledge was made to Wilhelm von Elma. In 1457 the office was redeemed by Konrad von Rosenberg (who had received it from Elma) and in 1477 pledged to Eckard von Crailsheim before it was finally redeemed.

The statistics of the Hochstift Würzburg from 1699 name 407 subjects in 8 villages. The following were deducted from the office as annual income for the bishopric: Estimate : 115 Reichstaler, excise and ungeld : 221 fl and smoke pound : 417 pound.

The official seat was moved to the neighboring Schwanfeld in 1792.

After the transition to Kurpfalz-Bayern in 1802, the office was dissolved and the places were mainly assigned to the Volkach Regional Court .
