history

Two ax finds from an estimated age of 3,500 years around Oberbuchfeld suggest that the area was already settled in the Bronze Age . After their investigation they were transferred to the Neumarkter Heimatmuseum.

In 1186 a church was consecrated to the patronage of St. Jacob by Bishop Otto von Eichstätt. It was first mentioned in a document as Pochuelt in 1188. It has only recently been known that there was a separate parish in Oberbuchfeld in the 14th century, which was most likely founded by the neighboring lords of Rothenfels. Because in 1337 Braun I. von Rothenfels and his wife Margret sold their little estate in Buchfeld, including the bailiwick, to Elspet the Hagenhöferin through the parish. And in an arbitration award at the Hirschberg district court, the dispute between the Oberweilingen pastor Albrecht von Buchfeld from the local nobility and a monk from Kastl monastery over an early mass in the parish was settled. Since 1359 the Waldsassen Monastery has had a farmstead in Oberbuchfeld, which it previously received from an Ulrich von Buchfeld. In 1372 Wilhelm and Heinrich the Loterbecker sold the Oberbuchfeld estate to Heinrich Kegler, the younger of Neumarkt. In 1481, the lords of the castle of Rothenfels claimed the church assembly law and the tenon law (on the restaurant) as an old tradition against the Electoral Palatinate, but apparently could not assert themselves. In the Salbuch of Rothenfels Castle around 1490, only the right to swarms can be found, so that the farmers of Oberbuchfeld had to plow for the lords of the castle. In addition, the Baldersheim Truchsesse owned the taverns (restaurant), fields and woods on the Sallerberg and the Waidkäse in the village. During the War of Landshut Succession in 1504, the Nuremberg people looted the village of Oberbuchfeld. In 1511 Phillip Truchseß von Baldersheim donated an annual fair for 100 days of work. In 1542 the Reformation was introduced in Oberbuchfeld. On May 5, 1544, Hans von Ittelhofen sold his goods in Oberbuchfeld to Elector Friedrich II. During the religious turmoil between 1558 and 1625, the village was forced to change its faith six times. In 1559 a church inventory was made. In 1574 Linhard Thanner sold the tavern with all rights and justice to the council of Neumarkt Hans Roßkopf.

In 1625 the Catholic religion was reintroduced. The tavern, which was owned by Georg Thonauer von Berg on May 10, 1627, was sold to Hans Christoph Wolf zu Neumarkt. From 1628 to 1632 Pastor Johann Schrober headed the parish. In 1644 the church was redeveloped for 126  fl The 1671 census showed 26 families with 130 inhabitants in the 23 houses in the village. In 1694 Hans Prant got permission to erect a torture column on the Lengenbach. In 1700 an old street was opened from Neumarkt via St. Helena, Oberbuchfeld, Lengenfeld to Velburg. The altar of the church in Oberbuchfeld was painted in 1723 by Johann Christian Pöhl from Neumarkt. On January 22, 1801 the aristocratic seat of Oberbuchfeld was sold to Margarete Yberl zu Lengenfeld. Two years later, the parish grounds Brunnberg, Gewayda, Bügl and Schardenanger were divided among the parishioners. In 1810, the seat of the nobility passed to Michael Yberl († July 25, 1831). His widow Eva Yberl, b. Pürzer, from Velburg, again sold the property on June 2, 1842. The church's new bell was consecrated in 1848 under the name "Martha". Two more church bells were obtained from Johann Anton Spannagel from Regensburg. In 1879 Johann Baptist Mößt (* 1855) was ordained a priest. In the same year the construction of the district road Siegenhofen - Oberbuchfeld - Unterbuchfeld - Velburg began.

In 1947 an extension was requested for the church. The cemetery and the new morgue were consecrated in 1952 by Pastor Matthias Breindl. The inauguration of the aqueduct, also by Breindl, was celebrated on July 14, 1957 with a water festival. The branch church was expanded from 48 to 187 m² in 1962 and was solemnly consecrated on August 5th by Bishop Joseph von Eichstätt . Two years later, another bell and a bell ringing machine with a bell cage were purchased. In 1972 a new war memorial was erected in honor of the dead of the two world wars, and on June 9, 1974, the volunteer fire brigade's flag inauguration was celebrated on its 80th anniversary, donated by the hunting tenant.

After the sudden death of Mayor Thomas Stiegler, Oberbuchfeld was the first municipality to join the Deining municipality. After the decision of the Oberbuchfeld municipal council, the integration came into force on January 1st, 1976. In 1980 street names and house numbers were reassigned and a boys' association was founded. In 1988 the Oberbuchfeld fruit and horticultural association was founded. In the following year the inauguration of the new fire station took place. In 1990 the boys' association celebrated its flag consecration and priest Willibald Brems consecrated the new organ of the branch church. In 1994 the volunteer fire brigade celebrated its 100th anniversary. Albert Ott from Oberbuchfeld was ordained a priest in 1997 and celebrated the primacy .

After the construction of the new water supply lines and elevated water tanks in 2001, a water festival was held again, and in 2011 the 825th anniversary of Oberbuchfeld was celebrated.
