Unterbuchfeld belongs to the municipality of Deining in the Upper Palatinate district of Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate .

The church village of Unterbuchfeld is located on the Jura high plateau in the north of the municipality of Deining , on the connecting road to Velburg and the BAB 3 .
history
Abbot Nikolaus zu Waldsassen sold the noble seat at Unterbuchfeld to Albert von Wolfstein in 1342. This made the Wolfstein owners of Buchfeld, later the Pöllinger . In 1370 the women's fair in Neumarkt owned an estate in Unterbuchfeld. A Hieronymus Mass in Neumarkt existed in 1427, it was equipped with an estate in Unterbuchfeld. On April 27 of the same year, Hans Wendel zu Unterbuchfeld sold half a gulden rent to the “Reiche Almosen” foundation in Neumarkt. In 1504, during the War of Landshut Succession, the people of Nuremberg plundered Unterbuchfeld. In 1542 the Reformation was carried out. According to tradition, the places Unter- and Oberbuchfeld changed faith six times between 1558 and 1628. In 1637, Magister Georg Dorn compiled a list of tenants in Unterbuchfeld. In 1671 there were 24 houses, 29 families and 136 residents in Unterbuchfeld. In 1725 all the houses in Unterbuchfeld burned down except for the church and the courtyard in the valley.
About 30 people died in 1822 of " nerve fever ". In 1862 a used organ from Deining was installed in Unterbuchfeld. In a major fire in 1875, 20 buildings were destroyed. In 1901 the property of Mayor Kirsch was destroyed by lightning. A local water supply was built in 1911. A "Steinmeyer Harmonium" was purchased for the church for RM 255 in 1940, and in 1950 the church administration bought a bell made from Deusmauer. In 1954, the residents of Unterbuchfeld donated a daily work of wheat for the preservation of the Church and the Eternal Light. A morgue was inaugurated in 1957, a post office in 1959. The post holder was Johann Forster. The church roof was renewed in 1966. The interior of the church was restored in 1969, and the same year the Unterbuchfeld school was incorporated into the Deining school association. In 1971, Vicar General Josef Pfeiffer consecrated the new bells. The state road and the through-town were rebuilt in 1972. A fire extinguishing cistern was built in 1975.
Johann Hollweck from Siegenhofen was the last mayor of the community of Unterbuchfeld, to which, in addition to the village of Unterbuchfeld, the village of Siegenhofen and the Siegenhofermühle belonged. On May 1, 1978, the previously independent municipality was incorporated into the municipality of Deining. In 1980, Dean Hirschbeck consecrated a new chapel of the Holy Trinity at the end of the town in Lengenfeld. Brother Benedikt Schmitz from Eichstätt created the mosaic picture. A popular mission took place in the village in 1989. The branch church in Unterbuchfeld was renovated in 1996. In 2000, the Unterbuchfeld volunteer fire brigade celebrated its 100th anniversary. The village center was redesigned in 2001 by a working group of all villagers and a new village center was created in front of the church. In 2003 the new village square was inaugurated.

Church of St. Mary
The church, which is consecrated to St. Mary , is a branch church of Deining. The early Gothic building measures 10 by 8 meters, the walls are up to 1.30 meters thick. Structural changes were made in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the east tower there is a square choir with cross vaults , the high altar with the depiction of the Assumption of Mary dates from around 1700. Structure with winding, leaf-covered columns and acanthus carving on the side. In the middle is a relief of Mary ascending to heaven, above it the Most Holy Trinity. As side figures, St. Anna and St. Joachim, the parents of the Blessed Mother. The left side altar impresses with two winding vine columns and rich cartilage, after the middle of the 17th century; the altarpiece is Nazarene. Opposite is a rosary Madonna from the first half of the 18th century. On the gallery a double coat of arms in an arcanthus frame. There is no cemetery of its own, the dead are buried in Deining.
