history

The place was first mentioned in a document in 1294 as "Obernnbibart", when the burgrave of Nuremberg gave it to Virnsberg , a commander of the Teutonic Order .

Towards the end of the 18th century there were eleven properties in Obernbibert (five courtyards, five estates, a smithy) and a community shepherd's house. The Obervogteiamt Virnsberg exercised the high court , the village and community rulership and the lordship over all properties .

As part of the community edict, Obernbibert was assigned to the Virnsberg tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Virnsberg, founded in 1811 . With the second community edict (1818) Obernbibert was changed to the rural community Unternbibert . In the course of the regional reform this was incorporated into Rügland on January 1st, 1977.
