history

The village was first mentioned by name in 1240 as "Lindach" meaning settlement near the linden tree . The ending “-ach” is derived from the Old High German collective suffix “-ahi”, which is particularly common in connection with tree names.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 15 properties in Lindach (1 third courtyard, 2 half courtyards, 9 Köbler estates , 3 empty houses ). The high court exercised the manor Rügland of the Lords of Crailsheim to a limited extent. If necessary, it had to be delivered to the Ansbach court box office in Brandenburg-Ansbach . The rulership of the Rügland manor held the rulership of the village and the community and the manor over all properties. At that time there were 14 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the municipal edict, Lindach was assigned to the Rügland tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Rügland, founded in 1811 .
