Oingt is a commune Déléguée in the French commune of Val d'Oingt with 680 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Le Bois-d'Oingt , Oingt and Saint-Laurent-d'Oingt were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Val d'Oingt. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. It was part of the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Le Bois-d'Oingt .
geography
Oingt is located around 30 kilometers northwest of Lyon in the Beaujolais wine-growing region . Neighboring places are:
- Ville-sur-Jarnioux in the northeast,
- Theizé in the east,
- Moiré in the southeast,
- Le Bois-d'Oingt to the south as well
- Saint-Laurent-d'Oingt to the west.
The area is drained south by the Ruisseau de Nizy stream, where it reaches the Azergues , a tributary of the Saône .

Until 1789, Oingt belonged to the historical province of Lyonnais .
