Spain took part in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal with a delegation of 113 athletes (103 men and 10 women) in 68 competitions in 14 sports.

The Spanish athletes won two silver medals. The sailors Antonio Gorostegui and Pedro Millet finished second in the 470 dinghy as well as the canoeists José María Esteban , José Ramón López , Herminio Menéndez and Luis Gregorio Ramos in a four-person kayak over 1000 meters. The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the boxer Enrique Rodríguez .
