At the XIV Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984 , three biathlon competitions were held. The venue was Veliko Polje on Mount Igman . The audience interest in biathlon had grown significantly in the meantime. Also in the media, v. a. In television coverage, the competitions were given a significantly higher priority than in previous years. The great success of Peter Angerer , who was able to take home a complete set of medals, also contributed to this in West Germany .
