Orchid is a city in Indian River County in the US state of Florida with 415 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Orchid lies between the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River , which forms part of the Intracoastal Waterway . The city is about 10 km north of Vero Beach and about 140 km southeast of Orlando .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 415 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 358 households. The population density was 129.7 inh / km². 98.6% of the population identified themselves as whites and 1.0% as Asian Americans . 0.5% said they belonged to several ethnic groups. 1.4% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 lived in 0.9% of all households and people aged 65 or over lived in 74.0% of all households. 86.5% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.93 people and the average family size was 2.04 people.

0.7% of the population were younger than 20 years old, 1.6% were 20 to 39 years old, 13.5% were 40 to 59 years old, and 84.0% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 68 years. 48.0% of the population were male and 52.0% were female.

The median annual income was $ 193,750, with 0.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
