Petra Böttcher

Petra Böttcher (* 1957 in Cuxhaven ) is a German visual artist . She works mainly with the pinhole camera .

Life

Böttcher studied graphic design with a focus on photography at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig with Michael Ruetz and Manolo Laguillo. In 1988 she completed her studies with a diploma .

In her first creative years, Petra Böttcher dealt exclusively with black and white photography . Since 1991 she has been working in color with a Peter Olpe pinhole camera . Petra Böttcher's works belong in the field of staged photography . The central theme is the visualization of time through multiple exposures and layers of real scenes on top of each other.

The most famous work is " Von dem Fischer un syner Fru II" from 2004, which u. a. was shown in the exhibition for the Gabriele Münter Prize in the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin . A photographic specialty of Böttcher's work is the exposure of full-length roll films . This leads to particularly long, narrow jobs.

She lives in Efringen-Kirchen ( South Baden ).
