Pierre Patrick Dagenais (born March 4, 1978 in Blainville , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player ( striker ), who was last under contract with the Akwesasne Warriors in the Federal Hockey League .
Career
Pierre Dagenais began his career with the Moncton Alpines in the Junior League Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) at the age of 17. He quickly became the star of his team when he led his team in the goals and points list in the 1995/96 season. In the 1996 NHL Entry Draft he was then drawn by the New Jersey Devils in the second round as 47th.
The following year, however, he continued to play in the QMJHL for the Laval Titan Collège Français . In the middle of the season he then switched to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies . Since the rights of the New Jersey Devils had expired after two years, they got him again in the fourth round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft as 105th.
In the 1997/98 season Dagenais led in goal scoring of the QMJHL and took second place in the points classification.
In the 1998/99 season Dagenais played for the New Jersey Devils farm team in the American Hockey League , the Albany River Rats . His second season for Albany went better than the first and he finished the season among the top scorers in the league with 35 goals.
In the 2000/01 season Dagenais made his first experience in the NHL . The following season he played 16 times for the New Jersey Devils and their farm teams, the Albany River Rats and the Utah Grizzlies . He then moved to the Florida Panthers , where he played for the AHL team of the San Antonio Rampage .
In the summer of 2003, the Montreal Canadiens manager surprised some by signing Dagenais for a year. The 2003/04 season started Dagenais for the Canadiens farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs . During the season he was named to the second line of the Canadiens and played 50 games with Mike Ribeiro , whom he already knew from his QMJHL times. The attack line convinced as the most productive of the team with 27 points.
During the NHL lockout 2004/05 , he played seven games for HC Ajoie in Switzerland . After a failed start in the 2005/06 season , he was sent back to the farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, on January 6th by the Canadiens.
After the end of his contract in summer 2006, he signed in October 2006 with the Finnish club Jokerit in the SM-liiga . His contract ended during the Christmas break and was not renewed. So he moved to HC Innsbruck in the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League . He stayed at HC Innsbruck for a year and a half before spending the next two seasons at HK Traktor Chelyabinsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . In 101 KHL games he scored 26 goals and provided 16 templates.
After his contract was not renewed, the Canadian hired at the beginning of the 2010/11 season with the Akwesasne Warriors from the Federal Hockey League, which was held for the first time . He left this after 54 scorer points in 23 games and accepted a contract offer from the Austrian second division ATSE Graz . Although he signed a valid contract in Graz, Dagenais negotiated with other teams and the Austrians let him move to Vålerenga Ishockey in the GET-ligaen . However, he stayed there for only two months before he was drawn back to the Akwesasne Warriors in the Federal Hockey League in March 2011. Dagenais scored seven goals in the four games in the final games of the playoffs and then won the Commissioner's Cup, the championship of the FHL, with the Warriors.
