Career in motorsport
In the 1950s there was a group of French racing drivers who mainly drove the small-displacement racing cars from Deutsch & Bonnet , Panhard and Monopole . These included Paul Armagnac , Gérard Laureau , Jean-Claude Vidilles , Pierre Hémard , Jean Laroche , Rémy Radix , the brothers Pierre and Robert Chancel and Pierre Flahault.
Flahault had already appeared as a driver shortly after the end of the Second World War . He finished sixth at the 1947 Grand Prix des Frontières in a Fiat 508S , just under four minutes behind the winner Yves Giraud-Cabantous .
In 1949 he made his debut at the side of André Simon at the Le Mans 24-hour race , but retired prematurely after an engine failure on the Delahaye 175S . In 1953 he became one of the regular drivers at Monopole and competed primarily with Pierre Hémard as a partner. His best placement at Le Mans was 13th in 1954 .
