The 1969/70 season was the 35th season of the Polish Ice Hockey League , the highest Polish ice hockey division . GKS Katowice (ice hockey) GKS Katowice became champions for the sixth time in the history of the club . KS Cracovia was relegated to the 2nd division.

In the main round, each of the ten teams played a total of 36 games. The first place in the main round was champion. The last placed in the main round rose to the 2nd division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
