Power to the People The Hits Gimme Some Truth
2010

Power to the People The Hits is the fifth best-of compilation album of John Lennon and the 19th posthumously released album after Lennon's death in 1980. At the same time it including eight solo studio albums, three of the avant-garde albums are with his wife Yoko Ono , the two live albums, the two interview albums and the compilation albums make up John Lennon's 31st album. It was released on October 4, 2010 in the UK and October 5, 2010 in the US .

History of origin

In October 2010, EMI released a compilation album for John Lennon's 70th birthday; it was the fifth best-of compilation album after Shaved Fish , The John Lennon Collection , Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon and Working Class Hero: The Definitive Lennon by John Lennon.

The CD contains 14 single A-pages that were released between 1969 and 1981, as well as the album title Gimme Some Truth by Imagine . Apart from Nobody Told Me , the CD contains all of the top 20 hits from the UK and US charts. Only Yoko Ono is mentioned as the producer , which probably only applies to the production of the CD, since the respective producers are specified in the leaflet accompanying the music.

All titles are from the remastered re-releases that came out in October 2010.

At the same time, Power to the People The Hits was also released as a version with an additional DVD containing the 15 songs on the CD as music videos . The music videos, except for Gimme Some Truth , were taken from the Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon video collection . This special edition was also accompanied by a card called "Online" that contains a registration code for the John Lennon Universe website . A leaflet is enclosed with the CD.

There was no publication in LP format.

Cover design

The cover design was done by Karla Merrifield and Peacock. The cover picture is from Bob Gruen.

The two versions of the CD editions have different covers , while the CD version has a blue sky with clouds as a background, the background of the edition with the additional DVD is just white.
