Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon is the third "Best Of" compilation album by John Lennon and the ninth posthumously released album after Lennon's death in 1980. It also includes the eight solo studio albums, the three avant-garde albums with his wife Yoko Ono , the two live albums , the two interview albums and the compilation albums , John Lennon's 21st album. It was released on October 27, 1997 in the UK and on March 10, 1998 in the US .
History of origin
In October 1997 EMI released a compilation album by John Lennon in Europe and in February 1998 in the USA, the 18 singles, which were released between 1969 and 1985, as well as two album titles (Working Class Hero and Beautiful Boy [Darling Boy]) contains. Of the internationally released singles, only Woman Is the Nigger of the World , I'm Steppin 'Out and Every Man Has a Woman are not included. The abbreviated version (Single Edit) of Mother was first released on CD.
It was released in LP and CD format in October 1997.
Cover design
The cover design was done by Linards and Perfect Day. The cover photo is from Spud Murphy. The CD comes with a 20-page illustrated booklet containing information about the album.

- In October 2003, the 100-minute video collection Lennon Legend: The Very Best of John Lennon, which contains 20 music videos by John Lennon. The sound tracks were mixed in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. Most of the videos have been redesigned and have the same playback sequence as the track list on the CD of the same name.
- The CD was newly remastered in June 2007; In addition, a limited edition was released, which also contains a DVD with bonus material from the DVD of the same name.

No single was released from the album. The promotional CDs Imagine and Happy Xmas (War Is Over) were produced in Great Britain and the promotional CD God was produced in Spain .
