Signature Box is the title of an eleven CD box by John Lennon that contains the eight studio albums and a double CD with singles and previously unreleased recordings. It was released on October 1, 2010.

History of origin

In October 2010, EMI released a CD box for John Lennon's 70th birthday; the eight studio albums were remastered again in 2010 and re-released in cardboard cases. The CDs are in a foam-lined box in the shape of a white cube (edge length 18 cm each), made of hard cardboard. While in the first re-release series between the years 2000 to 2005, most of the albums were not only remastered, but also remixed; the albums were only remastered again in 2010 based on the original mixes . The bonus tracks from the first re-releases were dispensed with this time, so the track lists of the original releases were restored. The remastering took place at Abbey Road Studios by Paul Hicks and Sean Magee. Allan Rouse was the project coordinator. Double Fantasy was remastered by George Marino at Sterling Sound Studios in New York . The albums each have a cardboard cover that can be opened.

The albums Live Peace in Toronto 1969 , Live in New York City , Menlove Ave. , which were also not released in a remastered version, and Double Fantasy Stripped Down are not included in the box.

The CD Singles contains five single-A-side and B-side Move Over Ms. L . These six songs are not included on the accompanying studio albums. The CD does not contain the single A-side Every Man Has a Woman and the single B-side Do the Oz , which are also not included on the studio albums.

The CD Home Tapes contains thirteen tracks that have not been published in this form before; with One of the Boys and India, India compositions by John Lennon, are the first time here, as Home Demos , appeared. Honey Don't comes from the sessions on the John Lennon / Plastic Ono Band album and was previously unreleased. The other ten songs have already been published in other versions.

The CD box comes with a 62-page booklet ( hardcover ) entitled Yes , which includes photos, four drawings and two handwritten lyrics by John Lennon. The book also contains explanations by Anthony DeCurtis. The box also contains an art print of a drawing by John Lennon, as well as a leaflet with essays by Yoko Ono , Julian Lennon and Sean Lennon to John Lennon.

This box also includes a card labeled “Online” that contains a registration code for the John Lennon Universe website .
