Gimme Some Truth is the title of a four-CD compilation album by John Lennon that contains 72 tracks but does not contain any unreleased recordings, and it is the 20th posthumously released album after Lennon's death in 1980. It is also available including eight solo Studio albums, the three avant-garde albums with his wife Yoko Ono , the two live albums , the two interview albums and the compilation albums , John Lennon's 32nd album. It was released on October 4, 2010 in the UK , October 5, 2010 in the US and October 1, 2010 in Germany.

History of origin

In October 2010, EMI released a CD box for John Lennon's 70th birthday; the four CDs are thematically structured and each have their own cardboard covers and titles. The CDs are in a cardboard case. The first CD, Working Class Hero , contains songs by John Lennon that deal with political and social issues; the second CD Woman deals with the topic of love for his mother Julia, Yoko Ono and his son Sean . The third CD, Borrowed Time, includes Lennon's tracks that deal with his private life situations. The fourth CD Roots contains the album Rock 'n' Roll , the live version Hound Dog and another four (co-) compositions by John Lennon that have been influenced by the music style Rock 'n' Roll .

The CDs contain 20 single A-pages that were released between 1969 and 1988; the only not included, internationally released single is Every Man Has a Woman . The album also contains the German single Ya Ya from the Rock 'n' Roll album .

All titles are from the remastered re-releases that came out in October 2010. Only the CD box (CD Roots ) still contains the following remastered tracks: Yer Blues (Live) from the album Live Peace in Toronto 1969 ; Hound Dog from Live in New York City and Here We Go Again from the album Menlove Ave.

This box also includes a card called 'Online' that contains a registration code for the John Lennon Universe website . The CD box contains a 24-page booklet that shows photos, two drawings and two handwritten lyrics by John Lennon; the booklet also contains explanations by Anthony DeCurtis.

Only Yoko Ono is mentioned as the producer , which probably only applies to the production of the CD, since the respective producers are specified in the accompanying book for the music.

It was not published in LP format.
