The Schwarzwald-Querweg Rottweil – Lahr is a four-day hiking route through the Black Forest from Rottweil to Lahr . The 99-kilometer hiking trail was laid out in 1935 and has been maintained and looked after by the Black Forest Association ever since . His signpost is a red-blue diamond on a yellow background. As a rule, the blue side of the diamond points to Rottweil and the red side to Lahr.

Brief description

The Rottweil – Lahr cross-way leads out of the Neckar Valley initially over open terrain with views of the heights of the Middle Black Forest . On the second day from Königsfeld , the path goes through forests down to Hornberg in Gutach Valley. After a steep ascent to the watershed between Kinzig and Elz on the third day, the fourth day continues into the Schuttertal to Lahr .

The crossing begins at the train station in Rottweil, leads through the city center and leaves the city via Hausener Straße. Soon after, an underpass runs under Autobahn 81 . After a few branches it goes downhill to Horgen. In the village the path crosses the Eschach and leads over the Teufenstraße past the water treading basin into the Teufenbach valley. Behind the Teufensee the route goes noticeably uphill to Sinkingen. The path continues downhill along the district road 5720 to Fischbach. Then the hike runs along the Glasbach to Burgberg, which you leave via Burgstrasse. Königsfeld is then reached via the church of the Brethren , a pietistic faith movement within the Evangelical Church, on whose initiative the town was founded in 1806. In Königsfeld the cross way crosses with the east way ; Both paths then run on the same route to Martinsweiler. After the two paths have separated, it is about two kilometers to Buchenberg.

Directions

From Buchenberg, the stage first leads over the Hochwälder Höhe. From there the cross-path runs to the Lindenbüble hiking home, which is about 300 meters away from the path, on the same route as the Mittelweg . The common route goes on mostly asphalted route past the Gasthaus Staude and the scattered settlement Holops, a district of Sankt Georgen . From the Lindenbüble hiking home, the hike leads partly steeply downhill to the train station in Hornberg. Points of the route are the Hornberger Höhe, the Philippsruhe, the Immelsbacher Höhe and the Gesundbrunnen.

Third stage: Hornberg - Höhenhäuser

Directions

Behind Hornberg, the cross path leads to the Hornberg castle ruins with the castle hotel and from there further uphill to the refuge at Offenbacher Eckle. From the Fährlefelsen the path runs, together with the Westweg , past the Huberfelsen to the Prechtaler Schanze. Soon afterwards the two paths separate. The route continues past the Landwassereck inn to the Heidburg pass . Shortly before the Flachenberg, the path leads together with the Hansjakobweg to the Heidburg , of which hardly anything can be seen, and past the Gasthaus Biereck to the Gasthaus Kreuz in Höhenhäuser. The Hansjakobweg is equipped with picture boards that draw attention to events and stories in the life and work of Heinrich Hansjakob . At the Gasthaus zum Kreuz, the Rottweil – Lahr crossroad, the Hansjakobweg, the Kandelhöhenweg and the Zweälersteig cross each other .

Directions

From Höhenhäuser to Sodhof, the Rottweil – Lahr crossroad and the Kandelhöhenweg run on the same route. From the Gasthaus Kreuz, the hike goes downwards, past the mostly unmanaged Lahrer Hütte and via Landesstraße 103 to the Robertskapelle. From there it goes up to the Himmelsberg and then alternating undulating downhill and uphill to the Sodhof. Shortly afterwards, the Kandelhöhenweg branches off from the Querweg. Further downhill and through Seelbach, the path leads partly on the slope above the Schuttertal and partly in the Schuttertal to the bus station in Lahr. This is where the path markings for the cross path end. It's about three kilometers through the city from the bus station to Lahr train station.
