Robert Peterson (politician)

Robert D. Peterson (March 14, 1888 - September 2, 1968 ) was an American politician . Between 1935 and 1937 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Dakota .

The sources on Robert Peterson are very poor. Almost nothing is known about his life beyond politics. One thing is certain: he lived at least for a time in Centerville (South Dakota) and was a member of the Democratic Party . He was a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives in 1933 and 1934 . In 1934 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state alongside Thomas Berry . He held this office between 1935 and 1937. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active. Robert Peterson died on September 2, 1968 and was buried in Dalesburg .
