Alva Clark Forney

Alva Clark Forney (born February 25, 1871 in Holt County , Missouri , †  April 11, 1956 in Portland , Oregon ) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1927 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Dakota .

Career

Nothing is known about Alva Forney's youth and schooling. He later moved to Oelrichs , South Dakota. There he worked as a rancher, banker and in the mining business. During the Spanish-American War of 1898 , he served in the American armed forces. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . Between 1905 and 1908 he was a chamberlain in Fall River County ; from 1921 to 1924 he was a member of the House of Representatives from South Dakota .

In 1924 Forney was elected lieutenant governor of South Dakota alongside Carl Gunderson . He held this office between 1925 and 1927. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . After serving as Lieutenant Governor, he moved to Portland, where he died on April 11, 1956.
