William Dougherty (politician)
William "Bill" Dougherty (born April 6, 1932 , † July 3, 2010 in Sioux Falls , South Dakota ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party .
biography
Dougherty was the campaign manager for John F. Kennedy in South Dakota in the 1960 presidential election and continued to have close ties with the president's family after the assassination attempt on John F. Kennedy .
In 1971 he became Lieutenant Governor of South Dakota ( Lieutenant Governor ) during the tenure of Governor Richard F. Kneip and held this office until 1975.
He then remained a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives until 1999 and was known as an MP in particular for his lobbying work.
William Dougherty died after a long illness to cancer .
