Odell K. Whitney

Odell Kimball Whitney (born December 31, 1884 in Alpena , Jerauld County , South Dakota , † June 1967 in Pierre , South Dakota) was an American politician . Between 1931 and 1933 he was lieutenant governor of the state of South Dakota.

The sources on Odell Whitney are very poor. Nothing is known about his youth, school days and professional career beyond politics. He was a member of the Republican Party and served in the South Dakota Senate from 1925 to 1930 . In 1930 he was elected lieutenant governor of his state alongside Warren Green . He held this office between 1931 and 1933. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate. After his time as Lieutenant Governor, he was no longer politically active.
