history
In 1931 in the cadastral community of Kleinreinprechtsdorf a grave with gifts was destroyed in the "Hollerberg" corridor. An excavation that followed in 1932 uncovered another five graves - including a double burial - all of them from the Middle Latène period (280 to 190/150 BC). According to the finder, there was a man in the destroyed grave, adorned with iron shoulder brooches , a bracelet and belt chain. In a woman's grave there was an iron and a glass bracelet, two iron brooches and a belt chain. A second women's grave contained a gold and iron spiral finger ring, as well as two fibulae and a belt chain with bronze eyelets. Presumable traces of trepanation can be seen on the skull. The other graves contained similar grave goods. These artefacts made the dating possible. Another body grave was uncovered in the local area in 1938.
Röschitz was first mentioned in a document with the name "respice" in 1198. In 1514 the place was elevated to a market, and 46 years later Röschitz received its own coat of arms from Emperor Ferdinand I. The market town was shaken several times by the plague , the Thirty Years War (Sweden) and conflagration. In times of war many found refuge in the so-called earth stables . It is difficult to say when these earth stables were created, but it is believed that they were dug around 1000 to 1200 by followers of pagan religions (Bavaria).
