The opening game of the World Cup tournament at the Stade de France began extremely nervously with a lot of slight ball losses on both sides. The Argentinians particularly impressed the hosts with their strong defensive presence, but were also able to set accents on the offensive. So the French went into the break 8 points behind. In the second half, the Argentines put their initial nervousness off, while the French repeatedly lost control of the playground equipment. Two missed penalties ultimately cost the French victory and the Argentines managed the first small surprise of the tournament.

In the end, however, the Irish won 32:17 and took over the top of the table for the time being. On the Irish side, Connector Ronan O'Gara awarded three out of five raises.

In the second minute of the game, the Georgians took a 3-0 lead with a penalty, which the Argentinians were only able to convert into a 6-3 lead five minutes before half-time. Shortly after the break, the surprisingly strong Eastern Europeans had the chance to equalize when Verbinder Merab Kwirikashvili was unable to convert a drop goal . Then the South Americans took over the game again and scored the first attempt of the game in return. As a result, they continuously expanded their lead and won 33: 3.

Despite the lead for Ireland by Rory Best in the 17th minute of the game, the game remained level and the Eastern Europeans got the connection points to 7: 3 before the half-time break. The Africans initially took the lead with a penalty kick in the seventh minute, but the Argentinians equalized it only three minutes later.
