S / 2017 J 7 was discovered by astronomer Scott S. Sheppard in 2017 . The moon has not yet been given an official name - the moons of Jupiter are usually female figures from Greek mythology - instead, according to the system of the International Astronomical Union (IAU), it is provisionally designated as S / 2017 J 7.
